Barbara’s insights on the next set of images:

“Create a space with a peaceful aura and a positive energy force.” My clients – a physician and yoga practice instructor – made their desire perfectly clear in our first meeting brainstorming the complete renovation of their common living area in their lovely Dunedin, Florida home on the intracoastal waterway. They envisioned a panoramic view of the water, a stunning grand room, and a state-of-the-art kitchen with a cozy booth for family activities.  They strongly preferred natural and handmade items, and wanted copper brought into the space as a “healing element.”

I loved hearing about their vision, and I was inspired to go to work designing many custom-features to create a sanctuary for them that would perfectly fit their lifestyle. They fell in love with the stunning copper leaf cathedral ceiling in the grand room; the dramatic freestanding copper fireplace; the custom-cast glass chandelier and sconces (they’d loved selecting the colors of the fused glass); the hand applied terra-cotta Venetian plaster; the Blue Solodite granite evoking the water; the comfortable, custom-built booth with ample storage and a curved linen wall for displaying family photos and the children’s artwork; the custom- designed copper top dining table – practical for myriad activities; and the glowing green recycled glass and natural grasses on the booth perimeter adding positive energy to the room.

The peaceful aura and harmonizing environment my client had envisioned in our first meeting was realized through custom designs and artistic elements perfectly fulfilling their wish-list. The only problem my client says they have with the new design is getting their guests to leave. Once in the space, they’re are drawn in by the chi and want to stay. As my client remarked, “The overall feel is truly magical”.
